Zanji Mukenya: Peep a Boy'z Verse

"If you think Kenya is short of talent, then my guy you are out of touch with reality. As they say, Vitu kwa Ground Ni Different. You are literally a contact away from discovering beautiful talent in this country of ours.

Which leads us to our feature of the week, a man who goes by the name Zanji Mukenya. A lot of people around us, if they are talented, they probably are just good at one skill. But our Mans here, quadruples up as a dancer, singer, rapper and an actor. And crazy thing is, he's pursuing all fronts at the same time.

He's a graduate of Theatre, Arts & Film Technology at Kenyatta University, Music Programme at Sauti Academy and attended a Fellowship in Dance, Film & Music at New York Film Academy.

Before he started recording music, he was more involved with acting in shows, musicals & plays, theatre at gigs held at Braeburn & Oshwal Academy. Some of the musicals included Sarafina & Jungle Book.

As for dancing, Zanji has a choreography company called Zen Family. Under this outfit he has been able to teach at Alliance Francaise, and collaborated with Spell Cast Media & also Stand Up Shout Out's Change Makers Project.

Furthermore, he's dancing prowess has also gotten him to feature in Sauti Sol's music video Shake Ya Bum Bum and recently Valerie Muthoni's VKGND (Vitu Kwa Ground Ni Different)

Musically, he started out singing since he was 13 years old, but then he felt like some things can't be really expressed via singing. And that's how he ventured into rapping. He's first EP was titled Testing which to him was the beginning of his journey in music and just experimenting between different genres.

Zanji has released songs & remixes of songs such as Successful, Girls Need Love, War, Fall, Ready or Not, Trippin in Nairobi, Story of My Trip, etc

He has collaborated with artists such as Aurie, Markus, and Censored who is Jovie Jov's small bro.

He's biggest music inspirations have been Michael Jackson, Tupac, Biggie, Jay Z etc and locally he looks up to Xenia Mannasseh, Valerie Muthoni, Camp Mulla, Khaligraph Jones etc

Zanji Mukenya has performed one song "Bullet from a Gun Remix' on LWKY
