LE RU: East Africa's Humming Bird

"'People have been saying your music give off IAMDDB Vibes,' ' Yeah I get that a lot' she responds. If your mind hasn't figured out who this Kenyan artist is, then worry not, LWKY got you.

LWKY started with the vision of showcasing Low Key High Key acts in Kenya especially those that lean more towards a Hip Hop vibe. And knowing that this segment is mainly male dominated, we really wanted to get the femcee's in the industry a voice as well.

And this week's feature is an example of a Objective accomplished. For some of you who've been in the know of the Nu Nairobi vibe, you may have known of 23 year old Ruby Githui who's first made an entrance to the music industry in 2016 as Ru.By but later rebranded to Le Ru. 'I was trying to register my name on soundcloud but there was already another Ruby. So i added a dot and that's how Ru.By came about. BTW Ru.By is prounounced as 'Ru dot Buy' she tells us.

Le Ru is a RnB singer, song writer, and creative director who's debut into the industry through her single 'Why' which was produced by a famous hit make 'Blinky Bill' formerly of Just A Band.

She then released an EP titled 'Hey There' that was followed by a Listening party at Kioko Art Gallery as well as a short film titled the same directed by Jeremiah Andamy and edited by Kevin Wang'ombe.

As phenomenal as she is, Le Ru has been a darling in concerts and music festivals as seen by the demand to have her perform live in gigs such as Africa Nouveau Festival & East Meets West Festival in Uganda.

Her consistency has led her to be featured on major bangers such as Spicy Szn by Valerie Muthoni, which also featured Taio Tripper and directed by Natasha Ayoo and edited by the one and only CJ Pixels.

She describes her sounds as Jazz and R&B with an African feel or simply afro-soul/afro-jazz.

Le Ru has performed one song "Sick Ah' on LWKY.
